Workshop at Binus School

Workshop at Binus School

Last week I went to Bina Nusantara (Binus) School which is a very big school in Jakarta. I met Mr. Boy Luna, who a friend of my host Arianne, at his house. Mr. Boy is a Filipino artist and he is the Head of the Arts Department of Binus School.

After discussing my project with Mr. Boy, I wrote a proposal addressed to the school’s principal stating what I plan to do in their school and just after a few days I had a very nice workshop with about 90 students from grades 3, 4 and 5. As always we talked about 2 subjects– traveling and trees. Having a talk and showing some pictures about traveling and different countries always make children more interested to participate in the workshop about trees.

I asked the children to write some stories about trees and after 4 days I collected all their stories, and as soon as I get the chance, I will publish the good ones in my website. It is so wonderful. When I came back to the school to collect the stories, one of the students gave me a small plant, and she told her teacher that Mohammad love plants and I prefer to give him a plant instead of a story.

Many thanks to Mrs. Shalini and Mr. Boy who helped me to hold that workshop. I also brought to the school four indoor trees to plant and each class will plant a tree in their garden.

I am in Ancud, Chiloe. I am waiting here to receive my bicycle gears to fix it. My cassette and chain almost dont work and I cant cycle at all in any kind of uphill and I have to push my bike.
A friend of mine sent them from USA to Valdivia but they didnt arrive whle I was there myself and Jose, my Chilean friend in Valdivia sent them by bus to Ancud. So tomorrow I can pick them up and hopefully I will fix my bike to continue some more days in Chiloe and then will go to Carreterra Austral once again for some days.
